Lucy & Scott | The Compasses at Pattiswick
Let’s go back to this cheeky little number of a wedding, at The Compasses at Pattiswick last August! I’m a recommended supplier at The Compasses, and on this occasion for Lucy and Scott’s big day I was joined by a compendium of other trusted suppliers at the venue. Lucy and Scott’s wedding was on a beautifully warm and sunny day in early August, thankfully not too roasting so that we all melted, but that beaut type of summer weather you can bask in all day.
Lucy and her bridal party girls got ready at the venue’s own bridal suite whilst Scott and some of the gents spent the morning nearby at home, before both the wedding ceremony and reception were held at the venue. Some beaut floristry from Victoria Free Floristry complemented the blush pink theme, and I was chuffed to see the reception table names were all films – something I also did for my own wedding! Although slightly different tastes; Lucy and Scott’s top table was The Notebook, and ours in 2013 was The Goonies.
After dinner, everyone was treated to some cheeky tricks and bantz from top magician Nick Crown, also a recommended supplier at The Compasses, and he had everyone equally wowed and in stitches at his wizardry. This was a great move from Lucy and Scott, as summer weddings afford you lots of time with your guests outside in the warm weather, and having a magician like Nick at your day works really well.
The Compasses at Pattiswick is famous for its sunsets, and when the weather behaves itself, they can be glorious. I was delighted that the new Mr & Mrs wanted to get a few snaps just before the sun went down, taking a small jaunt down the country lanes to make the most of golden hour. If there is a magical combination for summer weddings, it’s sunsets and wheat fields!
Not wanting to miss any of the party, we got a handful of shots before heading back straight into the first dance. Those that wanted to cut some shapes could get right onto it, and others could enjoy the late night BBQ that was happening outside. What an absolute dream of a day! In 2019 I shot five weddings at The Compasses and each one is so unique and special, I love shooting there!
