Kerry + Lewis | Gosfield Hall Wedding

Kerry and Lewis couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful, sunny, summery day for their wedding at Essex country house venue, Gosfield Hall. In fact, I may even go as far to say it was too sunny, if there is such a thing!

Kerry had always dreamed of having a wedding at a white-walled venue, so she and Lewis fell in love with Gosfield Hall as soon as they arrived when they saw it, accompanied by Gosfield’s famous stag statue! I knew the day was going to be relaxed, fun and light-hearted as these guys had several children in the wedding party (including their son and daughter), and there were surprises along the way too. After the wedding the family were off to Disneyland Paris, and as a Disney-obsessed family, the theme of their wedding was in no doubt!

I was with the girls up in Gosfield’s Rococo Suite, (you know the one, the ‘gold room’ Gosfield is famous for) and I captured Kerry and her girls getting ready whilst my second shooter Emma stayed with Lewis, his best man Kieran and page boy/ring security guard Leo. Lewis had arranged a surprise video and slideshow for Kerry, detailing the journey they’d taken until the moment of their wedding morning, from their first years together as entertainment performers, to his surprise proposal at The Eiffel Tower, to their wedding day. Best man Kieran delivered it to the bride via a laptop and it was great to see the effort Lewis had gone into putting it together for his soon-to-be wife.

Once everyone was ready, we headed to Queen Charlotte’s Gallery, which is a 120ft oak-panelled ceremony room, and it provided a dramatic entrance for the bride and her bridal party as they headed up the aisle to greet an emotional Lewis. Once the ceremony was over, guests enjoyed the summer sunshine outside in Gosfield Hall’s formidable grounds, and once some formal snaps were taken everyone headed inside for dinner and speeches.

Lewis again pulled a surprise out of the bag by showing a video he’d made called ‘The Engagement Plan’ on a large projector, which was a series of clips conveying just how much work and secrecy the groom had put into surprising his wife with their engagement. It was really great, especially seeing the moment on video Lewis proposed in Paris, by getting a bystanding tourist to capture it on Lewis’ mobile phone.

We rounded our photographs off with some beautiful golden hour shots in Gosfield’s nearby wheat fields, and the evening entertainment kicked off with a choreographed first dance by the bride and groom, followed by none other than Michael Jackson himself! OK not from beyond the grave, it was an impersonator. Scroll below to check it out!

Finally, to hear from the new Mr & Mrs themselves, Kerry and Lewis also wrote a blog for Gosfield Hall about their wedding day experience, and you can read that by clicking HERE
